Writer William Least Heat-Moon visits with students at a luncheon Tuesday at which the Heasley Prize winner for 2000 answered questions about his books and his writing habits. On Monday night, Least Heat-Moon delivered the Heasley Prize lecture to a crowd that delighted in his story-telling skills as a speaker as well as a writer.

Dr. Russell Stinson, the Josephine Brown Professor of Music at Lyon, delivers the Williamson Prize lecture Tuesday at Nucor Auditorium. With the aid of video clips, Dr. Stinson talked about the use of the music of Bach in motion pictures.

Flamenco guitarist to perform Tuesday

Guitarist Ronald Radford, accompanied by a Flamenco dancer, will play various examples of Flamenco music in a performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in Brown Chapel Auditorium.

The concert is sponsored by the Batesville Community Concerts Association. For ticket information, call (870) 793-3382. Lyon students with IDs will be admitted free.

Community theatre play starts tonight

The Batesville Community Theatre is sponsoring a production of the award-winning comedy, “The Foreigner,” to be performed in Brown Chapel Auditorium on April 7, 8 and 9. The production will take place at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday nights, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee.

Admission is $8 for adults, and $5 for children age 12 and under and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or in advance at Schwegman’s Office City, 308 Main Street in Batesville. Sponsorship of this production is made possible in part by grants from the Arkansas Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Batesville Area Arts Council.

The Scots lost to Harding 4-3 on Tuesday in Searcy.  The Scots travel to Pulaski, Tenn., this weekend for a double header against Martin Methodist on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.

Tennis

The Scots tennis team will take on Christian Brother University in Memphis at 4 p.m. today.
