Five of the students were on the program, presenting original scholarly and creative works. Creative works included Kalina Bakalova’s presentation of her award-winning set design for “The Rivals,” and Molly Gibson’s reading of a selection of her poetry.
Scholarly presentations included Will Cooksey’s “The Language of Forms Surrounding the Doryphorus,” David McCullars’ “Disclosure of the Mind and Dreaming with Artificial Neural Networks,” and Stephanie Saunders’ “Psychological Issues in Hispanic Culture.”
Junior Jonathan Ball attended Alpha Chi’s Chapter Workshop, designed to give chapters new ideas to strengthen their work on campus.
Three students came home with honors. Bakalova and Saunders won first-alternate scholarships in Alpha Chi’s Region II Gaston and Pryor competition. McCullars won Alpha Chi’s national Benedict Fellowship for graduate work. Lyon sponsor Terrell Tebbetts, who accompanied the students, was re-elected to Alpha Chi’s National Council.
