Policies of the Mabee-Simpson Library

Checkouts
Students need a Lyon College ID  to check out library materials.  ID's are issued to Lyon College students, faculty, staff, and Lyon College retirees.  Alumnae and members of the community may purchase a card for $25 per year.  The circulation period for items varies.  Please ask at the Circulation Desk for details. Users are responsible for materials checked out in their name. Fines will be assessed for overdue items.

Renewals
Books may be renewed by phone, or in the library's online catalog or by bringing them to the front desk.

Holds
You may place a hold on any book that is checked out in the library catalog.  When the book is returned, you will be notified so that you can check it out.

Damaged Books and Materials

If a book or other material is returned to us damaged, but still can be repaired or cleaned at the library, there is a 10.00 damage fee and a 5.00 processing fee for the damaged item. 

Lost Books belonging to our Library

Books or other materials that are not returned have the following fees attached to them.

  • Processing fee: 5.00
  • Replacement price of book or other material.
  • All overdue fines associated with the item.


Lost Interlibrary Loan Books

Books or other materials that are not returned have the following fees attached to them.

  • Processing fee: 5.00
  • The replacement price set by the lending institution.
