GENERAL NOTES

Mike Scroggins, '98, will teach drama this fall at Sylvan Hills, his alma mater.

Terrell King, '00, writes, "After 13 wonderful years, I am leaving the students, parents, faculty, and staff of the Bastrop Independent School District and beginning my new job of Director of Elementary Staffing for the Round Rock Independent School District. In my new position, I will be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, staffing, and human resource issues for the 33 elementary schools in Round Rock ISD. It is a very difficult decision to leave; however, this move allows me to continue on the path of achieving my career goal of becoming a superintendent one day."

Joseph M. Rugger, '03, Director of Finance and Administration for Jonesboro Prosthetic and Orthotic Lab, has been selected as one of only thirty-eight young Certified Public Accountants who will participate in the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) 5th annual Leadership Academy in Durham, North Carolina, this fall.

Garrard Conley, '07, has written a book about his experience at Love in Action. Signs and Wonders will be released next year.

Lyon hosts Chinese students

Thirty-three Chinese junior high school students stood open-mouthed at the sight before them. That sight was Lyon College's Becknell Gymnasium. For most of the students, this was their first time seeing an indoor basketball court. The Chinese students, along with four teachers, visited the Lyon College campus for seven days last week to participate in English as a Second Language courses. READ MORE

Kelley hired as football coach

Kirk Kelley is a proven winner and knows how to build and lead successful collegiate athletic programs. Now the Lyon College Athletics Hall of Famer is making a return to the institution where he turned a fledgling baseball team into an NAIA championship contender, hoping to do the same with the Scots' new football program.

Hanaway hired as basketball assistant coach

Kyle Hanaway has joined the Lyon College men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant, rejoining first-year Head Coach Chad Tapp, who originally recruited him out of high school to play at Taylor University.
