Individual Counseling

Much of the counseling done by the Director of Counseling is done one-on-one.  However, counseling is not limited just to individuals.  Couples are also seen for counseling, as well as roommates or friends.

How do I know if I should go to the counselor?

You might go if you:

  • feel sad or depressed most of the time
  • have been keeping something inside that you would rather not
  • wanted to learn better academic skills
  • are experiencing home sickness
  • would like to understand yourself better
  • experience the death of a family member, friend or pet
  • have been sexually or physically assaulted
  • are in a relationship and would like to come in with your partner to discuss better relationship skills
  • have a chronic or serious illness and want to discuss issues surrounding this
  • are concerned about sexual identity issues
  • experience difficulties with eating or body image
  • are concerned about anything that you would like to discuss in confidence
